Target Audience
The assembled spectators or listeners at a public event such
as a play, film, concert, or meeting.
Primary – the main audience who has direct interest in the
product.
Secondary – product is not directly directed at them but
they view it due to their children family or friends.
Tertiary – slightly interested due to knowledge within it
but wouldn’t normally view it.
A target audience is a
particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed.
- It’s useful for a film to have a target audience
so it draws in a certain crowd. It’s easier to direct a film at a certain group
of people then to aim it at everyone which could be rather tricky. A film will
have certain features that aim at the target group. For example, you could not
have adult themes in a children’s animation; the same way you can’t have children’s
humour in an adult film.
- I think comedies and
action are
appealing to teenagers and adults due to the humour and some of the
violence or activities involved in them. I think romance appeals to the older
age or to females in particular because they are normally emotional. Children will
stay appealed to cartoons and animations due to the colours and the language is
easily understood by them. I think males are more into goory film including
blood and violence and females are into happy films due to different Interests.
