What can I take from this information?
It tells me that film production for different genres can vary but it does not necessarily effect audience interest. Also, it tells me that film audience preferences is very much a thing and that they count a great deal.
Audience
- 15-24 year old attended the cinema more than any other age group in the UK
- Older audiences preferred to watch independent movies
- The genres most popular with men were: thriller, action & comedy
- The films that appealed most to women were: Frozen, About Time & One Direction This Is Us
- UK films appealed more to females rather than males
- The films most watched by ages 7-14: One Direction: This Is Us, Wreck-It-Ralph, Despicable Me 2, this tells us that animation has a great draw when it comes to kids and teenagers but also that kids and teenagers can flock to see from a completely different genre
- Adults went to go see more child-friendly movies because they ere most probably taking their child to see that movie and ended up watching it with them, this contributes to animation being so formidable financially as they will receive a lot of money as families go to see them as opposed to one person or two
- The films most popular with 25-34 year olds were: Django Unchained, Fast & Furious & Rush
- Films most popular with C1: Rush, Gravity & Captain Phillips
- With C2 the most popualr movies were: Oz the Great & Powerful, Fast & Furious 6 Despicable Me 2
- There is a huge difference as to the most popular films in London & Scotland, Londoners seems to be more inclined towards the blockbusters whilst Scots were more into the indie fare
