We will aim to target women a bit more than men because women are more inclined to drama films than their male counterparts.Still, with this being said we do not want to completely isolate our male audience, males are also part of marriages and will be a able to relate to the things on screen just as much as women. Most sustainable marriages would be with those who are married and are 30 and over hence why a 30 year old is my minimum age. Since it would be a drama on marital problems it is only right that we target married and divorced men and women. Married people would be able to identify with the the things on screen and the divorced likewise.
Despite this, we would of course like to appeal to a number of different demographics and age groups. We hope that the runaway wife aspect could hopefully perk the attention of action/thriller lovers. it gives our film an edge and appeals to more than 30 year old husbands and wives.
YouGov tells me that mostly elderly women are interested in drama which is why senior citizens are also being targeted. They tend to not be as adventurous when it comes to cinema outings because so much of the market is targeted at younger people, so if we can attract them we could give our film a really unique edge. Also, since females are a big part of our target audience we want to emphasise the importance of our female lead. Although she will be omitted from our opening scene we want to give her a starring role in our overall film and not have her conform to typical gender stereotypes such as the damsel in distress.
