The film opening that we decided to recreate was the opening of Collateral. The first thing we did was watch over the scene and try and put all the different scenes and shot types into a storyboard. To not down each shot wasn't too difficult but some problems arose due to the slow motion implemented, but it was nothing too troublesome. I feel that the storyboards were accurate enough and nothing was really missed out.
In terms of location and costume we ran into no obstacles. These two probably provided the group, well at least me, with the most fun. We went to go shoot at Kings Cross Station, where we knew there would be people. We chose not to shoot inside the station to avoid any problems, we shot outside the station which was fine because there was enough people walking around to make it seem as though it were the station in the actual movie. We used sunglasses from my home, they were not in the best condition but they got the job done. The location and costume impacted our film greatly, as it allowed it to be closer to the actual opening scene The bags we used were mines and Rochelle's, in hindsight we probably should have used a prop briefcase but it just did not occur to us at the time to ask for it. A briefcase would have been more in tune with the actual opening.
Creating title credits was not too hard. Once the group got a hang of how to work Premiere & After Effects. We just had to use out minds and think and we found the ways to do everything that we wanted to. When doing font, effects etc. we decided that it'd be best that we keep it consistent and linear. Meaning that we used the same font and effect on each title credit. The only thing that changed was colours, some colours suited other scenes better. The actual opening scene of Collateral had no title credits so it was all up to us and our imaginations to think of the best ways to do it. I feel that our colours and effects fit our tone.
